            Bug ID: 527545
Summary: Wayland: keyboard and mouse fail to wake DisplayPort
monitor; explicit DPMS on restores it
    Classification: Plasma
           Product: kwin
      Version First 6.7.5
       Reported In:
          Platform: Fedora RPMs
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: wayland-generic
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
  Target Milestone: ---

DESCRIPTION

The monitor remained off despite keyboard presses and mouse movement. The
computer and KDE Wayland session were still responsive. Running `kscreen-doctor
--dpms on` restored the display immediately without restarting the session.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

Exact reproduction steps are unknown; this was observed once.

1. Use a KDE Plasma Wayland session with a DisplayPort monitor.
2. Encounter the monitor in a powered-off state; the original screen-off
trigger was not recorded.
3. Press ordinary keyboard keys or move the mouse.

OBSERVED RESULT

The monitor remains off. `kscreen-doctor --dpms show` reports DP-1 as off. The
kernel connector attributes report connected, disabled, and Off.

EXPECTED RESULT

Keyboard or mouse activity wakes the monitor.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

Operating System: Fedora Linux 44 (KDE Plasma Desktop Edition)
KDE Plasma Version: 6.7.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.31.0
Qt Version: 6.11.2
Kernel Version: 7.2.10-200.fc44.x86_64
Graphics Platform: Wayland
Graphics Processor: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060
NVIDIA Driver Version: 615.78.08, open kernel module

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

One DisplayPort monitor, connected as DP-1, running at 2560×1440 at 144 Hz.

During the failure, KWin reported the output as logically enabled and
connected, but its DPMS state remained off. The USB keyboard and mouse were
active and enabled in KWin; individual input-event delivery was not captured.

Running `kscreen-doctor --dpms on` changed the output to enabled and On. The
picture returned, and keyboard and mouse worked normally.

No corresponding graphics or USB errors were found in the targeted incident
logs. The cause and reproducibility remain unknown.
