DESCRIPTION
After updating to KWin 6.8.1, parts of windows show corrupted blocks and
fragments of other windows or desktop itself, often in a strip near the top.
The mouse cursor can remain correctly rendered over the corrupted region.
Moving or resizing an affected window clears the corruption temporarily.
Repainting in any window on any screen can either trigger corruption again or
temporarily fix it.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Use the KDE Wayland session with the internal AMD-connected eDP panel and
NVIDIA-connected external monitors.
2. Arrange overlapping windows on an external display. In my case these
included Chrome / Teams / Outlook PWAs.
3. Cause UI updates in any window, for example typing in text fields, opening
app launcher etc.

OBSERVED RESULT
The corrupted strip on the external display changes with these updates and can
show content from windows behind the foreground window. Minimizing the
underlying windows can remove their content from the strip. This is not limited
to keyboard input or one application.

EXPECTED RESULT
Windows repaint correctly without exposing fragments of other windows.

VERSION COMPARISON
Affected: KWin 6.8.1-1.1.
Downgrading only KWin to 6.8.0-1.1 and rebooting appears to resolve the
corruption.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
CachyOS; KDE Wayland; remaining Plasma packages 6.8.1; Qt 6.12.0.
AMD Radeon 780M/Phoenix iGPU + NVIDIA RTX 4060 Laptop GPU.
KWin supportInformation reports OpenGL ES rendering on AMD.
Internal panel: 2560x1600 at 240 Hz, scale 1.25.
Two Philips 273V7 external monitors: 1920x1080, scale 1; direct HDMI and
USB-C-to-HDMI, both NVIDIA-connected in the affected setup.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Tests on 6.8.1 that did not fix the corruption:
- KWIN_ALLOW_DMABUF_V6=0 + reboot
- Chrome hardware acceleration disable
