            Bug ID: 527602
Summary: Windows placed by a position rule move partly off
                    screen when they resize themselves
    Classification: Plasma
           Product: kwin
      Version First 6.8.0
       Reported In:
          Platform: Other
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: wayland-generic

  Target Milestone: ---

DESCRIPTION

Since KWin 6.8.0, when a Wayland window changes its own size, KWin keeps the
window's center fixed instead of its top-left corner. This was introduced by
1073df28fe, "Center xdg-toplevel surfaces when they resize by themselves"
(plasma/kwin!9739).

It breaks windows that resize themselves after a rule places them at a fixed
position, e.g. Emacs.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create a window rule for Emacs (pgtk build, native Wayland) with Position =
"Remember" at 0,0.
2. Start Emacs. It opens at 0,0 and then resizes itself to the size in its
config.
3. Run (set-frame-size (selected-frame) 182 <height>) in Emacs to make the
frame wider.

OBSERVED RESULT
After steps 2 and 3, the window's center stays where it was. The window grows
on both sides, so its left edge goes past the screen edge.

EXPECTED RESULT
As in 6.7.5, the top-left corner stays where the rule placed it and the window
grows to the right and down.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: Arch Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 6.8.1
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.31.0
Qt Version: 6.12.0

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Reverting 1073df28fe on top of 6.8.1 restores the expected behavior.
