DESCRIPTION
When a file changes on disk and focus returns to kate, it will prompt you with
a "file changed on disk" dialog.
One option is to View Differences which opens a new tab and displays the output
from the diff command line utility (if kompare is not installed).

In settings, under Behavior, there is the option to format the diff utility
output one of three ways (raw, unified, or side-by-side). While this setting
works when comparing two files opened in tabs, it does not work when there is a
file changed on disk.

Since the diff utility is being used for both situations, the behavior setting
here should apply to both.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. remove kompare—if installed—to avoid defaulting to kompare instead of the
diff utility
2. open a file from disk into a tab in kate
3. go to settings > configure > behavior > diff and choose the Side-by-Side
option, and apply
4. change file on disk using the command line by amending a non blank line to
it
5. return focus to tab in kate where file is open to trigger the dialog

OBSERVED RESULT
Dialog appears informing user that the file has changed on disk and offers
options for what to do.

When choosing the View Differences option, a new tab appears with a display of
the differences in a format used by the diff command line utility without
switches (raw format).

EXPECTED RESULT
The new tab should display the results of the diff utility in the Side-by-Side
format as if the -y switch was passed—or if Unified option was selected in
settings, then the output should appear as if the -u switch was passed.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: Kubuntu 24.04
KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.12
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.115.0
Qt Version: 5.15.13

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This was also tested using the latest nightly appimage build of kate version
26.11.70
kate-master-12787-linux-gcc-x86_64.AppImage
and this behavior is exactly the same as with the plasma 5 version.
