This is an example of a colorized file list (a bit heavily done in this case!)
I often work in large directories that have related files having different
kinds of content and differing importance. I almost always work in detail
view.
A great aid in making sense of the large collection of files in a directories,
using another file manager that I have relied on for years, has been the
ability to colorize individual files. I can select a colorization from preset
list (each item shown in a foreground/ background color and bold or not). The
data on the colorization of each file in a folder is stored optionally in
either the file properties or in a global config file at some HDD/SDD location.
Returning to the folder even months later, the colorization is still there.
I recommend implementing a feature like this in Dolphin. It is an addictive,
wonderful productivity aid. And I know of only one file manager that has this
feature - Directory Opus (Windows only). I am moving over to a no-Windows (and
no-Wine) Fedora/KDE-Plasma installation. Dolphin is by far the best Linux file
manager I have found, and I hope this feature can be added. I believe doing so
will attract a lot of interest and enthusiasm for Dolphin.
