Bug ID: 527949
Summary: I suspect the issue has to do with the monitor's
refresh rate—whether in games or on the desktop.
Classification: I don't know

Platform: CachyOS
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: crash

Target Milestone: ---
I’m running into an issue with my Xiaomi G34WQi monitor (set to 10-bit color,
180Hz). If I have YouTube open in Mozilla (watching a video, etc.) and then
minimize the browser, the problem occurs after 3–10 minutes of playing any
game: the screen turns off, and the fans in the PC case spin up to maximum
speed—getting very loud—though the audio continues to play through the
speakers. I’m forced to shut the system down using the physical power button.
I’ve also discovered that the same thing happens even without YouTube,
specifically when using "video wallpapers" via Wallpaper Engine. With those
wallpapers active, the issue occurred just 2 minutes after launching a game. I
suspect the video wallpapers might be running at 60Hz, while the game runs at
100Hz at a resolution of 3440.
