OK, then, a blocker for Plasma 6.9, 6.10 or a blocker for X11 removal - whatever the work-flow dictates. It's not some esoteric missing feature with minimal impact. Restoring a desktop session is core functionality. Taking that away from users is likely to lead to churn away from KDE for some users as they go looking for it elsewhere. > We've declared for how long we can make a commitment to 6.7 stable, as cited > by the user, and it came with instructions: > https://www.gentoo.org/support/news-items/2026-10-15-plasma68-retires-x11. > html > > That might enable you to hang on to 6.7 until 6.9 will be released. Thanks for weighing in on this from the distro maintainer perspective. Much appreciated. As you point out, I have an immediate workaround to stay on 6.7, but once 6.9 is released that workaround starts living on borrowed time. Given the pace of of progress on this issue so far (no criticism, just an observation), it would probably benefit from more visibility and a bump in priority. Making this a release blocker would probably help a bit. Is there some way I can help with getting this across the line? The first implementation on release doesn't have to be perfect. As long as it doesn't crash and provides parity with X11, it will suffice for most users that need this. The implementation can be improved over time to surpass X11 functionality. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
