I just checked with 26.08.2 and the Open Project and Add Clip dialog windows look differently compared to your screenshots. I'm wondering whether that has changed from the version you used to report this. And AFAIK, Kdenlive uses the OS vanilla Open File dialog for opening projects (not sure about the add clip dialog window, but could be the same). Can you please verify that this is still a valid FR?
