DESCRIPTION
**Color profile set to "Prefer efficiency"**
Direct scanout won't enable at all on my desktop PC (kwin 6.8.2), my laptop
(kwin 6.8.2) and a friend's desktop PC (kwin 6.8.1).
Verified by downgrading to kwin 6.8.0 (on both my desktop and laptop), direct
scanout works there.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Install kwin 6.8.0
2. Make sure color profile is set to "prefer efficiency"
3. Launch Kwin Debug Console, enable "show compositing"
4. Launch vkcube (note: cursor must first go off screen to enable direct
scanout with this application), a game, a browser, or any window and fullscreen
it
5. Install kwin 6.8.1 or above
6. Make sure color profile is set to "prefer efficiency"
7. Launch Kwin Debug Console, enable "show compositing"
8. Launch vkcube (see note above), a game, a browser, or any window and
fullscreen it
OBSERVED RESULT
kwin 6.8.0: red border disappears, direct scanout enables
kwin 6.8.1+: red border remains, direct scanout does not enable
EXPECTED RESULT
Direct scanout enables in kwin 6.8.1 and above

Plasma 6.8.1, kernel 7.2.11-arch1-1, AMD Ryzen 4800H iGPU
Friend's desktop PC:
Plasma 6.8.1, kernel 7.3.0-4-cachyos, AMD Radeon 9070 XT
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I made sure this time and there is nothing about my configuration that would
prevent direct scanout from kicking in. kwin 6.8.0 has functional direct
scanout and 6.8.1 and above does not.
