            Bug ID: 528166
Summary: Mouse click/drag stutter on mixed refresh rate setup
(144Hz + 60Hz) under Wayland (specifically in World of
                    Warcraft)
    Classification: Plasma
           Product: kwin
      Version First 6.8.2
       Reported In:
          Platform: CachyOS
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: compositing

  Target Milestone: ---

Hi everyone,

Summary:
Micro-stutters and frame-pacing hiccups occur when pressing, holding, or
releasing mouse buttons (left/right click) on a multi-monitor Wayland setup
with fractional refresh rate ratios.

System Environment:

OS: CachyOS (KDE Plasma 6.8.2, Wayland)
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT

Displays:

Primary: 2560x1440 @ 144Hz (ASUS VG27AQL1A)
Secondary: 1920x1080 @ 60Hz (Lenovo T24m-29)

Detailed Description:
The bug is especially noticeable in World of Warcraft (WoW), where camera
control relies heavily on holding down the left or right mouse button to steer
or pan. The moment a mouse button is pressed or released, a brief lag/stutter
spike occurs. This issue likely affects other games utilizing hold-and-drag
camera mechanics or frequent cursor state changes.

Steps Taken & Diagnostics:

Enabled FreeSync/Adaptive-Sync in monitor OSD and set KDE Display Settings to
Automatic — Issue persisted.

Lowered main monitor refresh rate from 144Hz down to 120Hz — This completely
eliminated the click/drag lag.

Observed Behavior:
Running a fractional/non-integer refresh rate ratio (144Hz / 60Hz = 2.4:1)
causes KWin's event/render loop or hardware cursor plane updates to desync upon
mouse state transitions. Lowering the primary display to 120Hz creates an exact
2:1 integer ratio (120Hz / 60Hz), which runs completely smooth.

Expected Behavior:
Mouse click and drag inputs should process smoothly at 144Hz without requiring
an integer refresh rate ratio relative to the secondary 60Hz display.

Thank you,
Patrick
