DESCRIPTION

KWin crashes immediately whenever I connect my Dell D6000 DisplayLink dock via
USB-C. The issue started after updating to KDE 6.8.2

Disconnecting the dock doesn't restore normal desktop operation, you need to
reboot with dock disconnected.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

1. Boot into Fedora 44 with KDE Plasma Wayland.
2. Connect the Dell D6000 DisplayLink dock via USB-C.
3. Wait for the external displays to initialize.
4. Endless crash reports that come by groups of 3 every 5 seconds

OBSERVED RESULT

KWin crashes immediately after connecting the dock. At least one external
monitor turns on briefly before the crash. The desktop works normally when the
dock is disconnected.

EXPECTED RESULT

KWin should remain stable and correctly initialize the external displays
connected through the DisplayLink dock.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

Operating System: Fedora Linux 44\
KDE Plasma Version: 6.8.2\
KDE Frameworks Version: [Fill in from Info Center]\
Qt Version: [Fill in from Info Center]

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

KWin: 6.8.2-2.fc44\
DisplayLink: 6.4.0-2.fc44\
DKMS-EVDI: 1.15.1-1.fc44\
libevdi: 1.15.1-3.fc44

Hardware: HP EliteBook 650 G9, Intel Core i7-1255U\
Dock: Dell D6000

Updating DisplayLink and EVDI to the latest available Fedora packages did not
resolve the issue.

The crash is reproducible every time the dock is connected. I suspect this may
be related to KWin's DRM/KMS handling of EVDI devices.
