            Bug ID: 528290
Summary: Capture Video/SER: exposure watchdog ignores frame
count and aborts ~180 s into a long recording
    Classification: Applications
           Product: kstars
      Version First 3.8.5
       Reported In:
          Platform: Other
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
  Target Milestone: ---

A Capture job of type Video (SER) with Count × Exposure > ~180 s is interrupted
mid-recording. Capture arms its timeout as Exposure + CAPTURE_TIMEOUT_THRESHOLD
(180000 ms), using only the single-frame exposure, not Count × Exposure. After
~3 minutes Capture logs a restart, may write a spurious FITS, while INDI is
still recording the SER.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Capture: Type = Video, Format = SER, Encoding = RAW.
2. Exposure = 0.5 s, Count = 600 (5 minutes of frames). Upload Remote to an
existing directory.
3. Start the job (Capture alone is enough).
4. Wait past ~180 s.

OBSERVED RESULT
- Log: Starting video record (Frame count): 600
- After ~180.5 s: exposure elapsed / restart exposure; "Pose N sur 600"; new
Video attempt
- INDI: Cannot change format while streaming/recording
- Spurious FITS may appear on an old remote path
- SER incomplete or confused job state

EXPECTED RESULT
Timeout for Video = Count × Exposure + margin (or disable watchdog while
Frame-count recording is active).

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
KStars 3.8.5 Flatpak; remote INDI on Raspberry Pi 3
Terrain 2026-10-28 Neptune_SER (600×0.5 s). M92 360×0.5 s (~180 s) completed.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Code: captureStarted -> Exposure*1000 + CAPTURE_TIMEOUT_THRESHOLD
(camerastate.h = 180000).
processCaptureTimeout forces FITS then capture(exptime).
Related but different: bug 509021 (Video not treated as Light → no slew). This
report is the mid-SER watchdog only.
Workaround: Count × Exposure ≤ 170 s; split into several jobs.
