There's two issues, both of which affect any remote url, not specific to smb: - You can only add files, not folders. If you try to add a folder, it'll treat it as a file and just spew errors. (We use QDir here to test whether something is a file or folder, and that only works with local paths. Could switch everything to KIO, but that's a larger change) - You can only add folders with the configuration dialog, not files. QML's FileDialog checks whether the selected file exists when you try to add something, and it only knows local files (and qrc). So the only thing that you can add in the UI is the thing that doesn't work. You can, however, add single files to the widget with drag&drop, including remote files, and that works (well, after the above patch that makes remote things work again). First problem is something that we could fix, but might nbe a bit more effort. Second problem needs to be fixed in Qt I fear.
