Bug ID: 528268
Summary: Switching between virtual terminals makes the panel
and maximized windows change their sizes back and
forth
Classification: Plasma
Product: plasmashell
Version First 6.8.2
Reported In:
Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: Panel
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: 1.0
DESCRIPTION
Started happening after I updated my Fedora 44 KDE from Plasma 6.7.5 to 6.8.2
several days ago. Switching between virtual terminals now makes the panel
briefly disappear and then reappear, forcing the maximized windows to change
geometry back and forth until they settle on their initial state.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Launch KDE the usual way.
2. Open an app with a complex visual layout. Firefox with the bug list from
this site will do, as well as Chromium, Calibre and many others.
3. Make sure the app is maximized.
4. Switch to another virtual terminal with Ctrl+Shift+F3 or some other key.
5. Switch back to the original virtual terminal.
OBSERVED RESULT
The panel briefly hides and reappears. The app changes its size and layout for
a second.
EXPECTED RESULT
The panel and app should stay exactly as you left them.
SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: Fedora Linux 44
KDE Plasma Version: 6.8.2
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.31.0
Qt Version: 6.11.2
Graphics Platform: Wayland
Graphics Processor: Intel® HD Graphics 630
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Panel is set to Always Visible. The glitch happens with any panel position and
other parameters. I have only one monitor connected.
Please note that you will not notice this glitch if your monitor blacks out
completely when switching the virtual terminals due to mismatching Plasma
display settings for different users and such.
