The previously mentioned bug 436318 (for the kwin side) has been marked fixed, too. So it seems to me that the Konsole side could be worked on now. With Plasma 6.8 removing X11 support, broken session management in Wayland has become a problem that users can't easily work around any more by switching the session type.
