During KDE (plasma?) init, the component of KDE that provides desktop menuing
and the task-bar (same component?) crashes, leaving KDE with major functions
unavailable.

It is unclear to me the exact component that's failing.
It would sure be nice to have some way of telling what should be running and
comparing that with what is running. Being able to restart all of KDE or the
portions that have crashed would be a nice feature too.
