In many places when saving something (from browser), it tried to add incorrectly bin extension, so I turned it off and never looked twice at it. Surprisingly in Gwenview this checkbox works correctly. Or maybe some recent update fixed it? Sometimes it's hard to keep up on rolling release with all changes ;). Anyway, sorry for the confusion.
