            Bug ID: 386128
Summary: Creating quick group slowing down with a bigger file
                    size
           Product: krita
           Version: 3.3.1
          Platform: MS Windows
                OS: MS Windows
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: Layer Stack
          Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org
          Reporter: katearche...@yandex.ru
  Target Milestone: ---

If a file getting bigger than a certain size creating a new quick group become
extremely slow.

1. Create a new file, like 6x9k.
2. Start to draw random stuff creating new layers periodically.
3. Group these layers from time to time.
4. See as grouping become slower and slower.
5. After you hit a certain size(in my case its a 6 or 7 gb reported file size
on the bottom of the krita window; I have 16gb windows 7-64 machine) grouping
would become extremely slow(like one or two minutes till the operation
indicator on the bottom disappears)
6. If it takes longer that a minute you can try to press save and on the window
"wait for the operation to end and save" choose save without waiting for and
you'll get infinite grouping.
7. But if you open the file saved that way there will be the desired group that
you were waiting for in the previous steps(I suppose that means that the
grouping itself not the culprit but some of the operations after the grouping
are)

(I've tested this with my files on ubuntu 17.04 machine and get the same
results more or less)

desired effect: Grouping should take the same amount of time no matter how many
layers you have or how much memory a file used.
