Yes, with 5.7.0 in neon.

My first attempt to use an existing folder as an album, digikam filled my SSD
by going into a loop, creating the same folder within that one, and so on. 

For example, I had several levels of
/home/junfan/Pictures/Pictures/Pictures/Pictures/.... 

After that, I moved ~/Pictures and created a new ~/Pictures, deleted
~/.local/share/digikam and ~/.config/digicamrc (?)

When I relaunched and reconfigured (wizard), I dropped a pic in the folder and
under the album, in digikam, it added a blank folder. No files visible.
