Bug ID: 387832
Summary: Virtualbox is not correctly configured/installed
Product: neon
Version: unspecified
Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
CC: [email protected], [email protected], [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
I know this will be flagged as "upstream" because it is in all YABUs, but, Neon
is not supposed to remain a YABU so you can fix it when you move to your own
repos. Since Ubuntu first started packaging, virtualbox has never been
correctly configured/installed. It has protection/ownership problems which I
suspect are leading to many of these crash issues I see turning up in the
search.
You test this with BOINC. Install all of BOINC, reboot, then join the LHC @
Home project within Boinc. It won't take too many work units before you get a
message stating "virtualbox is not installed on server."
There has been a hack which sometimes works and sometimes doesn't, depending on
the YABU and what they tweaked.

The point is, if you __really__ are going to be your own distro instead of a
YABU based on a distro which tests nothing, then this needs to be fixed. Other
non-YABU distros don't have the problem. Neon users shouldn't have to do this
hack.
