            Bug ID: 359463
Summary: RFE - Feature: 'Hide menu bar' requieres improvement
           Product: kate
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Fedora RPMs
                OS: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]

I accidentally used the 'hide menu bar' feature. The laptop was lagging badly
and i even could not read the banner.

I was unable to use kate for some weeks until i try all control+key hotkey
until i found control+m

This needs polish, i even searched in google and control+m was not in any
results....
Currently, there is no visual way to know how to bring back the menu bar...

Also, editing the config file manually does not work!
(/home/$USER/.config/katerc)
[General]
Config Revision=10
Days Meta Infos=30
Last Session=
Save Meta Infos=true
Show Full Path in Title=false
Show Menu Bar=true << i even changed this from false to true but it did not
work!
Show Status Bar=true
Show Tab Bar=true

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. accidentally press control+m or Preferences -> show menu bar (under imput
lag or just lag)
2. do not read the banner (under lag + imput lag)

Actual Results:
If one does not known the control+m hotkey beforehand, it is possible that a
new user might not be able to bring back the menu bar and stops using the
application.

Expected Results:
a visual way to bring back the menus or something that at least suggest how to
do it.
