I suggest a clickable refresh icon as part of the "Updates available"/"No
updates available" button in the sidebar.

It does. It might be possible that the check failed or a recheck is necessary
for other reasons though.

My mistake, it's actually "Software Repositories".
Name, icon and action are extracted from the .desktop file referenced in the
source.
