Thanks again for the prompt answer. 

I use search from top during each and every search. In fact, the majority of my
searches require for code to be found throughout the whole tranche of code.
Searching from the current cursor position only is a faulty or incomplete
search. If you look at my pop-up example on my previous bug report you will see
that there is plenty of space for such a radio button, in fact it hardly takes
up any space at all. It should be clicked by default and allow a search from
the cursor location only when unclicked.

Once again I think this is a reasonable request as it will make Kate act like
other very decent editors and it will then incorporate what Windows users have
come to expect. 

I'd like Kate to have a wider audience and Windows users expect this sort of
functionality by default. I have had this 'advanced' functionality for years
and years on Context and Notepad++, on the VB6 IDE &c. It is simply expected.
