My steps to reproduce:
1) create a new document
2) add 2 Paint layers in a group
3) leave the topmost empty
4) paint strokes on the second one and
5) add the "Drop Shadow" layer style to it.
6) Save, close, reopen
Actual Results: artifacts when reopening the document (see link).
Expected Results: no artifacts.
