On my system, if i click on the NM applet, I have to wait for a few seconds
before any network (other than the one I am currently connected to) pops up. I
guess this is because networkmanager has to look for them, fine. But during
this 4-5s period, I am left with an empty applet and no indication that it's
doing something. We should have a "Scanning for network" message, or a spinning
symbol, or something along these lines.
