Bug ID: 391867
Summary: [Regression] Screen flickers occasionally with
redshift activated
Product: kwin
Version: 5.12.3
Platform: Gentoo Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
Since I updated all KDE-Packages to 5.12.3, one of my two screen flickers
occasionally. With flickering I mean, that redshift seems to loose its effect
of darkening for a couple of frames. So it's not simply white - it still shows
the same content, just not darkened. The screen that flickers changes (from
what I've seen up till now) depending on which screen the mouse is residing at,
at that moment.
At first it felt like this was triggered when window-focus changes between
screens, but it also happens from time to time without doing anything, so I'm
not sure about that.
We are having this problem with two systems. The second system has only one
screen. It actually happens more often on that one.
My System has:
Plasma: 5.12.3
KDE Frameworks: 5.44.0
Qt: 5.9.4
Kernel: 4.15.9 (64bit)
The other system has (delta):
Qt: 5.10.0
Both systems have a AMD Radeon card with 2K-Screen(s) and OpenGL 3.1
compositing enabled. Both systems use the Redshift applet for KDE. The bug can
be reproduced easier, when manually selecting a very strong darkening (hovering
the mouse over the applet and scrolling).
I don't know if this is a KWin bug. But it felt like this was the component
that is interacting with redshift.
