            Bug ID: 360083
Summary: Phonon doesn't list any device when Pulseaudio is
                    removed or not launched
           Product: Phonon
           Version: 4.8.3
          Platform: Kubuntu Packages
                OS: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: major
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
          Assignee: [email protected]

                CC: [email protected], [email protected]

Hello,

I'm a good sound fanatic ! That's why I disabled pulseaudio, in order to avoid
any resampling process on my music.

I restarted my computer, and now, in the Multimedia Module of systemsettings,
there is no any device listed (but "default") in Phonon. So, I can't set any
device as default :(.
I tried to check the "show advanced devices", but nothing more appeared.

In the past I did the same thing successfully. When I removed Pulseaudio,
phonon listed all alsa devices, and I could choose one and the play music.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Disable or remove Pulseaudio
2. restart Computer
3. Phonon doesn't list any alsa device

Actual Results:
I can't select a sound device when I remove or disable pulseaudio.

Expected Results:
1. Disable or remove Pulseaudio
2. restart Computer
3. Phonon should now list all alsa devices, instead of pulseaudio server

I tried DeadBeef (music player). We can choose the sound device in the player.
All alsa devices are listed in this app.

So, I think Alsa is fine, but phonon ha a problem to list its devices.
