Bug ID: 393837
Summary: Display of supernovae and novae
Product: kstars
Version: 2.9.5
Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
KStars already can display supernovae. However, when it does, it shows all
supernovae at maximum brightness. It would be very useful if KStars were able
to show supernovae at their current brightness. That way, it is much easier to
search for them and to know which ones may be observable or imageable. For
those that like the current display of supernovae perhaps that should remain
possible via a checkbox or so.
And it would be great if KStars could also display novae. Recently there was a
nova in Perseus and it would have been great to use KStars to slew to it and
image it over several nights. OK in this case the nova progenitor was already
known as a variable star (V392 Per) so it was easy but this clearly was an
exception.
Do you think this could be possible?
