Krita 2.9 is very old. We're currently at Krita 4.0.3 and cannot fix bugs in
Krit a 2 or Krita 3 anymore.
We do have to change the cursor by default to a brush outline: users demand
that.
However, you should be able to select the "Arrow" option in the Cursor page of
the General tab of the Settings dialog, and that should use the system cursor.
This works for me on Linux with the Plasma 5 desktop on X11.
