The first comment talk about libc++ crash.

I suspect an Exiv2 exception, as the crash appear in scan stage.

I can be usefull to try to identify the image scanned introducing the crash.

I recommend to crash with a small collection and step by step to see when the
application crashing. It must not crash with an empty collection of course
(:=)))...

Nota : 

1/ as Maik said, with debugview M$ application, you will be able to display the
all debug statements. While scanning, we print the current image scanned...

2/ digiKam for windows is compiled with debug symbols. So typically, running
digiKam in debugger (as QtCreator for ex), will indicate where the code crash.
