The feature was removed on purpose (I am not dev so it wasn't my work), I don't
remember the reason any more but I think it was something on the line
kdenlive-mlt that the effect was not any more supported.
Since I also needed this effect I created an additional library for mlt which
you can use with anything using mlt, also kdenlive.

At the moment I think it is the best what you can get. It will not work with
