Bug ID: 405068
Summary: Remove "Start New Instance" from panel context menu
Product: plasmashell
Version: master
Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: wishlist
Priority: NOR
Component: Panel
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: 1.0
When right-clicking on an window in the task manager widget, the context menu
contains an entry "Start new Instance" between "Maximize" and "Pin".
On the top of the menu is also an entry for "New Window" and "New tab"
(depending on the app).
So why the option for start new instance?
I suppose it is required for some special setup or developing of software?
If so I think it should be removed since it confusing and not helpful for the
average user. Special setups or developers can use the scripts or the terminal
instead.
I'm posting this bug because I have the feeling that the context menu contains
to many actions, which is overwhelming and IMHO a disservice to the user.
Instead we should try to focus on the task the user actually wants to perform.
