STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. open kate
2. press ctrl+o (open file dialog shows uo)
3. navigate to a samba share and open a text file
4. press ctrl+o again
OBSERVED RESULT
kate shows an error message: "the file or folder smb:// bla bla bla does not
exist". See the screenshot please.
EXPECTED RESULT
no error message
