plasma-nm applet stuck in a spinning state
SUMMARY
Sometimes the applet would show a spinner on the tray icon and next to the
Wi-Fi network when opened. The network status for the network says "Connected",
but the spinner is shown on the side at the same time (see the attached
screenshot).
There's a Disconnect button when hovering on the network.
Disconnecting and reconnecting doesn't make the problem go away.
Rebooting the system does.
This is similar to bug 339026, but:
- I'm not sure how to reproduce it. I just know that it has happened multiple
times for me over the past few months
- I do have some OpenVPN connections set up, but I don't actively use them, nor
are they set to auto-connect. I definitely haven't connected to a VPN in my
current session (system uptime is 2 days), but the spinning problem occurred,
so we can likely rule VPN out
- I do use the weather applet. I can't say if not using it fixes anything,
because it takes a long time to see the problem happen (days/weeks sometimes).
Removing the weather applet after the bug had happened and
disconnecting/reconnecting yields the same result - spinning forever.
`nmcli general status` says:
STATE CONNECTIVITY WIFI-HW WIFI WWAN-HW WWAN
connected full enabled enabled enabled enabled
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
Unknown. I think the problem is triggered after a suspend/resume.
However, not every suspend/resume triggers it (in fact, most don't).
