We have different error messages from the QImage loader, you message is that the file type is not supported. My message is, an error has occurred and the memory could not be assigned. I can not reproduce a memory leak. Gimp can not open the file and the ImageMagick loader of digiKam-6.2.0 shows only an empty alpha thumbnail. I will test it tomorrow.
