Bug ID: 413552
Summary: Unable to Paste Large Amounts of Textual Data
Product: kate
Version: 19.08.2
Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
SUMMARY
This is probably a general KDE problem, or a problem with non-KDE apps, but
it's occurring for me in Chromium and Kate. I am unable to copy and paste
somewhat large (>1MB) of textual data into Kate, when that data is copied from
Chromium.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Copy largish amounts of text from a Chromium page (I used
https://archive.org/stream/privateoffice03butlrich/privateoffice03butlrich_djvu.txt)
2. Attempt to paste that data into Kate
3. Paste fails
OBSERVED RESULT
The copied data is not pasted into Kate
EXPECTED RESULT
The copied data should be pasted
Smaller amounts of data successfully copies and pastes between the two
applications. This problem has occurred for several years, I believe.
After further testing, the problem also occurs when attempting to copy and
paste from Libreoffice Writer into Kate, and the text threshold is much lower.
Attempting to copy and paste 300KB of data fails as well.
