The next version will be pushed to: https://github.com/insaner/konqueror/tree/konqsidebar_tree_module and will include a great many fixes and improvements and features (as with the QDirModel version). It will still work with old KDirModel releases, but obviously will be lacking that root node. Enabling KDirModel code in sidebar/tree_module/tree_module.h:35 will give you a preview of those if you use the QDirModel branch. Stay tuned. I look forward to any feedback.
