Not really serious? First, my file dialog has a preview because the native KF5 file dialog is used. DigiKam has an option in setup to use the native file dialog. However, this depends on the desktop used. The AppImage also only has the Qt file dialog. Since you seem to be using KF5, just activate the native file dialog in the setup.
