Unfortunately Debian (at least in stable) doesn't package the latest version of
KDevelop, which is 5.5.0.
It doesn't even package the latest bugfix release in the 5.3.x series, which
was 5.3.3.
A similar bug was fixed in 5.3.2: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=403045
Please test the 5.5.0 AppImage available at https://www.kdevelop.org/download ,
which will run on Debian without affecting your system installation.
(or use a distribution that actually updates the software they distribute).
