NFS mounts are like very slow Hard drives, so it implies slow IO, and folder icons adds IO since dolphin has to scan for those settings that are currently spread out (bug https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=322922) which means dolphin is slowed down even more when the two are combined. But this should not cause this much delay.
