Yes, they are working, but you need a drawing tablet, like a wacom, for them.
There are updated presets available that also work with a mouse:
https://files.kde.org/krita/extras/WATERC%20stylus%20and%20mouse.zip -- though
we really do not make krita for people who are working with just a mouse.
