I am not sure these steps are the only ones I did to get this bug, since I used it with a remote for a very long time and don't remember everything, sorry. I tried to look for the name of the remote with a recursive grep from $HOME, and only found these lines in $HOME/.local/share/kate/anonymous.katesession: [Plugin:katefilebrowserplugin:MainWindow:0] Allow Expansion=false Decoration position=2 Show Inline Previews=true Show Preview=false Show hidden files=false Sort by=Name Sort directories first=true Sort reversed=false View Style=DetailTree auto sync folder=false filter history= location=sftp://username@remote_ip/home/username/my/workspace The file is generated automatically on startup, so removing it didn't change a thing.
