Bug ID: 429100
Summary: Elisa Searching for music only in added paths
Product: elisa
Version: 20.08.2
Platform: Manjaro
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: wishlist
Priority: NOR
Component: general
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
SUMMARY
Elisa has a "Music Search Configuration" functionality which allows the user to
add paths where the music is located. Unfortunately for me, though, Elisa - at
random - decides to look through the entire filesystem (all the folders and
hard disk / solid state drives) to find other pieces of media. I have a lot of
audio files that I don't need in my music player (since they're basically junk
that I recovered from an external HDD), but Elisa goes ahead and adds them to
the list anyways. The tracks do not save and disappear after a relaunch of the
application, but Elisa does a search every time after some music has been
played. I haven't been able to pinpoint when exactly it decides to start the
search.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Launch an app with two "Music Search Configuration" paths (that was the case
for me).
2. Start up some music.
3. After a bit, Elisa will start the process of importing tracks from the paths
that were not defined in "Music Search Configuration".
OBSERVED RESULT
Elisa starts to import tracks from undefined paths.
EXPECTED RESULT
Not searching for the tracks from undefined paths.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Perhaps this would be fixed by adding a switch to the "Music Search
Configuration" which would restrict the app to ONLY using the predefined paths?
Just saying.
