In the end, I figured out that the problem was that, on update, newly accessed
files were being shown at the end of the file list when showing expandable
folders, instead of being sorted by Access Date inside their parent folder
branch.
Anyway, as of Plasma 5.20.3 and Dolphin 20.08.3, the bug seems to have been
fixed.
Closing as RESOLVED.
