I tested the "interesting effect" again, and I'm pretty sure this is caused by
some legacy configuration that can no longer be reproduced with current
kscreen: it happens only when the current Display Configuration UI has none of
the screen with the "primary" checkbox checked, which I can no longer reproduce
(My setup was from when the "primary" designation was a select box).
