The scope of this bug has drifted a bit (it used to be about a bug in Wayland,
while now it tracks stuff happening on X11 according to the title). I have
marked another bug as a duplicate of this now.

Since this bug has drifted, it might be good to ensure that the original bug
scope is not forgotten, but I will probably postpone that until the new scope
is fixed.
