I think that's the intended behavior of the project plugin. From what I can
gather, only the files tracked by the supported source control systems (e.g.
git) are shown there.

For example, build folders will not be shown unless a `git add build` && `git
commit -m "Add build folder"` is done.

For a "live" tracking of the current folder, there is the "File System Browser"
plugin. Although it does not automatically show the current project folder, it
has a manual "Current Document Folder" button and also automatically reloads
the view when new files are created.
