This bug is still not fixed for me:

I am still having very very frequent disconnects in Kubuntu 16.04, kopete Qt:
4.8.7, KDE Development Platform: 4.14.16, Kopete: 1.8.3
The problem appears only on fast LAN connections like at university, it seems.
At the moment I am using this workaround:

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Use kopete on a fast connection. Perhaps low latency to the jabber server.
Actual Results:
Disconnects and reconnects every few seconds.
Kopete is unusable in this state.
Expected Results:
A proper jabber server connection.
