In my opinion the good solution would be detecting that git isn't available (doesn't matter if it's flatpak or not, it can be not installed in an old school distro as well) and then not expose the functionality (or give a meaningul error/tooltip/message/whatever of why it's not available). But that needs work and you're clearly not interested and personally neither am I (as said never used any of those plugins).
