On most if not all *BSDs they produce SIGBUS.  That *might* be the case on
Solaris as well.  (I remember it being the case on SunOS on Sun-2, where 16-bit
and wider quantities had to be aligned on 16-bit boundaries, and on SPARC; that
probably carried over to SunOS 5.)  Personally, I think that's how it *should*
be, but....
